Hyderabad: Telangana is gearing up for its largest-ever prize money chess tournament, scheduled to take place at the HITEX Exhibition Centre on December 20 and 21. The event, organized by Ekagra Chess Academy, will feature an impressive ₹22.22 lakh prize pool, making it a landmark moment for the state’s chess community.
This Open Rapid Chess Tournament marks the first time Telangana is hosting a chess event of this scale. According to Sharif Mohammad from the Ekagra International Chess Tournament, the initiative aims to promote competitive chess and provide a platform for emerging players across the country.
