In a major relief to residents, HYDRAA has successfully protected a public park in Gopal Nagar from illegal encroachment by installing fencing around 3,300 square yards of park land. The action was taken in Medchal–Malkajgiri district, Kukatpally mandal, as part of HYDRAA’s intensified drive against encroachments on parks and public spaces.

Long-Pending Complaint Finally Addressed
According to officials, the Gopal Nagar layout was developed in 1980 across 92.21 acres, covering survey numbers 148 to 155, with more than 1,200 residential plots. At the time of layout approval, land was earmarked for three parks.
- Two park sites were already encroached upon
- The third park was also facing illegal occupation
- Residents raised concerns over lack of open spaces and greenery
The Gopal Nagar Residents Welfare Association submitted a complaint through HYDRAA Prajavani, seeking immediate protection of the remaining park.
HYDRAA Field Inspection and Action
After reviewing the complaint, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath ordered a field-level inquiry. HYDRAA officials, along with GHMC and Revenue authorities, inspected the site and confirmed that the park land was being encroached upon.
Following the inspection:
- An illegal shed erected inside the park was removed
- Fencing was installed around the entire park area
- HYDRAA boards were placed, clearly marking it as park land
Residents Welcome HYDRAA’s Swift Response
Residents expressed relief and appreciation for HYDRAA’s prompt action. Welfare association representatives said that despite repeated requests to various departments over the years, no steps were taken earlier.
They stated that with two parks already lost to encroachments, the intervention by HYDRAA at the right time saved the last remaining park in the layout.

HYDRAA officials reiterated that strict action will continue against:
- Illegal encroachments on parks
- Occupation of roads and public lands
- Violations affecting community spaces
