The advisory was issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Hyderabad, to curb misuse of official symbols and prevent impersonation.
Strict Enforcement as per High Court Orders
According to the notice, strict enforcement will be carried out across Telangana against vehicles displaying unauthorised stickers, flags, seals, names, or logos linked to:
- PRESS
- Human Rights (HRC)
- Advocate
- Government departments or emblems
The move aims to prevent misuse of authority and false representation on public roads.
Only Accredited Media Can Use ‘PRESS’ on Vehicles
The Telangana government has clarified that only journalists accredited by DIPR are permitted to use the term “PRESS” on their vehicles.
- Non-accredited individuals are strictly prohibited from displaying PRESS stickers
- Misuse may attract charges related to impersonation and legal violations
Illegal Use of Emblems and Stickers Prohibited
The notice clearly states that the illegal use of flags, emblems, seals, logos, and special nameplates on vehicles is banned. Authorities have also been instructed to regulate:
- Vehicle registration marks
- Number plate formats
- Unauthorised fonts, colours, or designs
Public Advised to Follow Vehicle Display Rules
Officials warned that any unauthorised display of government-related symbols could lead to legal action, including seizure of materials and prosecution under relevant laws.
The government has urged citizens to strictly follow vehicle display regulations and avoid placing misleading identifiers that suggest official status.
