Hyderabad: Stepping up action on fire safety violations in Hyderabad, HYDRAA has launched intensive inspections across shops and commercial complexes in the city. As part of this drive, the authority seized the Neerus showroom in Jubilee Hills and sealed a furniture showroom on Nampally Station Road, citing serious lapses in fire safety norms.

HYDRAA Begins Citywide Fire Safety Inspections
Following recent fire incidents, HYDRAA initiated strict inspections to prevent further tragedies. The inspections are being carried out jointly by teams from HYDRAA, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Fire Department, and the Electricity Department.
Neerus Showroom Seized in Jubilee Hills
During inspections at Neerus showroom on Road No. 36, Jubilee Hills, officials found multiple violations. The building reportedly has three cellars and four floors, along with an unauthorised rooftop shed, all filled with large quantities of garments.
Authorities observed:
- Commercial sales on lower floors
- Garment manufacturing and storage on upper floors
- Use of premises like a warehouse
- No Fire NOC
- Inadequate or missing fire extinguishers
Taking a serious view, HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath ordered the showroom to be seized. The premises were declared fire-unsafe, fencing was installed, warning boards were placed, and power supply was disconnected.
Furniture Showroom Locked on Nampally Station Road
In another major action, HYDRAA sealed a standard furniture showroom located at Rahim and Mannan Estates on Nampally Station Road. The move comes days after a deadly fire accident at Bachas Furniture showroom, in which five people lost their lives.
Despite the tragedy, shop owners on the same road reportedly failed to take safety measures. During inspection, officials found:
- A six-floor building packed with furniture
- Heavy stock stored from cellar to top floors
- Staircases blocked with furniture
- No Fire NOC
- Absence of fire extinguishers on all floors
With fire safety norms violated at every level, HYDRAA ordered the building to be sealed immediately, stopped business operations, and cut off electricity supply.
Public Asked to Report Fire Safety Violations
HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath appealed to Hyderabad residents to report any fire safety violations. Citizens can share details of shops or complexes being misused as warehouses, or where flammable material is stored illegally in cellars.
