Hyderabad: As fire safety concerns grow following recent fire accidents, HYDRAA continued its second consecutive day of fire safety inspections across Hyderabad on Friday. Acting jointly with GHMC, Fire Services, and Electricity Department officials, authorities sealed six furniture shops for serious violations of fire safety norms, sending a strong warning to commercial establishments.

The inspections were carried out by teams from:
- HYDRAA
- GHMC
- Fire Department
- Electricity Department
Officials focused on shops and buildings operating without fire safety permissions, especially those misusing cellars as warehouses, which significantly increases fire risk.
Serious Fire Safety Violations Detected
During inspections, authorities found several dangerous lapses, including:
- Cellars converted into godowns
- Storage of chemicals, paint cans, batteries, mattresses, and furniture stock
- Absence of Fire NOCs
- No water sprinklers or smoke detectors
- Lack of fire extinguishers
- Basement ramps blocked and filled with stock
- Buildings operating without proper permissions
Officials said automatic fire response systems are mandatory to prevent loss of life and property, but many shops failed to comply.
6 Furniture Shops Seized Across the City
HYDRAA officials sealed the following establishments:
- Looking Good Furniture Shop, Gachibowli
Large quantities of paint cans, mattresses, batteries, and furniture stored in cellars; no building or fire permissions. - Anu Furniture Showroom, Kompally Cross Roads
Similar cellar storage violations creating high fire risk. - Royal Oak Furniture Showrooms, PV Narasimha Rao Expressway near Kukatpally and Attapur
Hazardous storage of furniture stock in basements. - Bantia Furniture Showroom, Uppal Nagole
- Anu Furniture Showroom, Nacharam
Barricades were installed at these locations, and boards were placed declaring them fire-unsafe zones.
Clear Warning from HYDRAA
Officials reiterated that:
- Shop buildings must not be used as godowns
- Warehouses should be located separately
- Showrooms must be limited to display and sales only
- Operations will resume only after full fire safety compliance
HYDRAA warned that strict action will continue against any establishment violating fire safety norms.
