Hyderabad: In a major step to improve road safety in Hyderabad, the Hyderabad Traffic Police caught 364 drunk drivers during a two-day special drive conducted on March 13 and March 14, 2026. The enforcement operation targeted motorists driving under the influence of alcohol, which remains one of the leading causes of road accidents.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police drunken driving special drive was carried out across multiple parts of the city to ensure safer roads for commuters. Authorities used breath analyzers and traffic checkpoints to identify drivers who violated traffic rules.

Authorities also released data showing the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) levels of drivers caught during the Hyderabad drunken driving drive.

BAC range and number of cases:

  • 30–50 BAC: 66 cases
  • 51–100 BAC: 174 cases
  • 101–150 BAC: 68 cases
  • 151–200 BAC: 29 cases
  • 201–250 BAC: 12 cases
  • 251–300 BAC: 8 cases
  • Above 300 BAC: 7 cases

Officials noted that several drivers were found with extremely high alcohol levels, which significantly increases the risk of serious road accidents.

Zero Tolerance for Drunk Driving in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad Traffic Police warned that there will be zero tolerance for drunk and drive violations in the city. Authorities confirmed that such special enforcement drives will continue regularly to discourage reckless driving.
