- The victim received a call in February claiming his mobile number was linked to 17 criminal cases
- The accused threatened a “digital arrest” and said an investigation would be conducted at home
- During a video call, another fraudster posed as an official and intimidated the victim
- The victim was kept under psychological pressure for 15 days
- A total of ₹42 lakh was transferred into four mule accounts
Police revealed that the accused operated from Cambodia, targeting Indian citizens through organized cyber fraud networks.
Accused’s Background and International Link
Investigations found that Gajarla Avinash had gone to Cambodia for a data entry job, where he became part of a cyber fraud network targeting Indians.
- He later began conducting scams independently from Cambodia
- The stolen money was routed to mule accounts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
- The Cyberabad Police also conducted investigations in Visakhapatnam and Mumbai (Bombay) in connection with the case

Police stated that:
- The accused returned to India in March
- He was arrested through a planned operation
- ₹12 lakh, received as commission, was seized from him
- Earlier, four other accused were already arrested in the same case
