Delhi traffic police detect forged permits, tampered vehicle; three FIRs registered
In a continued crackdown on traffic violations and document fraud, the Delhi Traffic Police have detected three serious offences involving forged no entry permits and a tampered vehicle in the last 48 hours. Officials said legal action has been initiated in all cases.

According to police, the first incident was reported on April 27 at around 5:15 P.M. near Patiala House Court under Tilak Marg Circle.
ASI Rajender Kumar, along with Head Constable Omprakash, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL1LAL4940 for violating No Entry restrictions. During verification using an e-challan machine, the No Entry Permits displayed on the vehicle was found to be forged.
The driver, Veer Pal (21), a resident of Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly using the fake permit as genuine. The vehicle, registered in the name of Kapil Dev of Kirari, was handed over to Tilak Marg Police Station. An FIR (No. 52/26) has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In a separate case on the same day at around 10 P.M., ASI Raj Kumar intercepted another vehicle at Shankar Chowk under Parliament Traffic Circle. The vehicle, bearing registration number DL1LAQ6339, was found displaying a forged NEP, which upon verification was originally issued for a different vehicle.

The driver, Rahul Shukla (29), a resident of Shastri Park, disclosed that he had obtained the fake permit for Rs 12,000 from a person identified as Sanjay. An FIR (No. 76/26) has been registered at Mandir Marg Police Station.
In the third case, reported on April 26 during routine checking near Kake Da Dhaba in Connaught Place, ASI Virender Singh intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number DL1LAS0394. Police found discrepancies in the chassis and engine numbers, which did not match official records, indicating tampering and the use of a fake number plate. The vehicle was seized and handed over to Connaught Place Police Station, where an FIR (No. 110/26) has been registered.
Officials said the cases highlight the effectiveness of real-time verification through e-challan systems and reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards forgery and vehicle-related fraud. Citizens have been advised to obtain permits only through authorised channels, warning that strict action will be taken against violators.
