Telangana : Tension prevailed in Kodad town of Suryapet district after victims staged a road protest against the removal of the Dabbakottu, a place they claim to have occupied and depended on for nearly three decades.
According to the protesters, they have been living on the Dabbakottu for the past 30 years and were distressed by its removal. They took to the road demanding justice and urged authorities to address their grievances before taking any further action.
When CI Shivashankar reached the protest site, a confrontation reportedly broke out. The CI allegedly attacked one of the protesters, Mandal Upender, and pushed him into a police vehicle.
The incident escalated further when women reportedly intervened. The CI was accused of pushing the women aside while attempting to control the situation. A journalist who was recording the incident was also allegedly attacked twice while filming the confrontation.
Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the conduct of the police officer and the treatment of the protesters.
The affected families have expressed anguish over the incident and demanded justice and a fair inquiry into the removal of the Dabbakottu as well as the alleged police action. They have appealed to senior officials to intervene and ensure that their concerns are properly heard
