Neredmet Police cracked a chain snatching case in Hyderabad and arrested an Army jawan identified as Kurrapothula Reddy Sekhar for allegedly stealing gold chains from women due to debts caused by cricket betting addiction. The accused allegedly snatched a nearly 3-tola gold chain from a housewife in Saptagiri Colony on May 10 before fleeing the scene. Police traced and arrested him using CCTV footage and technical evidence.

Army Jawan Arrested in Neredmet Chain Snatching Case

Police said the accused, Kurrapothula Reddy Sekhar, was working as an Army jawan.

According to investigators, he became addicted to cricket betting and allegedly committed chain snatching crimes after falling into debt.

The accused allegedly targeted women and stole gold chains to clear his financial liabilities.

Gold Chain Snatched in Saptagiri Colony

Police said the incident took place on May 10 in Saptagiri Colony under Neredmet Police Station limits.

The accused allegedly snatched a gold chain weighing approximately 3 tolas from the neck of a housewife and escaped from the spot.

The victim’s identity was not disclosed by police.

CCTV Footage and Technical Evidence Help Police

Investigators used CCTV footage and technical evidence to identify and trace the accused.

During the investigation, police discovered that the accused had allegedly changed the bike number plate with a fake registration number to avoid identification in CCTV cameras.

Police said this tactic was used to mislead investigators and escape detection.

DCP Sridhar IPS Supervised Investigation

The case was cracked under the supervision of Sridhar IPS.

Neredmet Police took the accused into custody and solved the chain snatching case.

A statement regarding the case was also issued by V Yadagiri Reddy.

Investigation Status

Police have arrested the accused and further investigation into the case is continuing.

Officials are examining additional details related to the cricket betting activities and other possible crimes linked to the accused.
