Hyderabad: The Mehdipatnam Police arrested a property offender on July 7, 2026, in connection with a major house theft case registered as Crime No. 196/2026 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mehdipatnam Police Station. Police recovered 157.8 grams of gold articles, one blue Activa 3G two-wheeler bearing registration number TS 08 EL 1621, and Rs 12,000 in cash, with the total value of the recovered property estimated at Rs 10,00,000. The accused has confessed to the offence during interrogation, and the investigation is continuing.

Complaint Registered at Mehdipatnam Police Station
According to police, a complaint was received on June 30, 2026, at 7:00 AM from Smt. Rajitha Srinivas Godari, 45 years, a resident of Flat No. 301, Siri Priya Residency, P.S. Nagar, Street No. 05, Masab Tank, Hyderabad.
She reported that gold ornaments had been stolen from her residence. Based on her complaint, police registered Crime No. 196/2026 under Section 305 BNS at Mehdipatnam Police Station and immediately launched an investigation.

Police identified the accused as:
- Biyya Shashidhar
- Father: Biyya Krishna
- Age: 28 years
- Occupation: Uber Bike Driver
- Address: H. No. 1-12-181, Chinna Thokatta, near Seven Temples, New Bowenpally, Secunderabad
Mehdipatnam Police Recover Gold Worth Rs 10 Lakh
Police recovered the following stolen property from the accused’s possession:
- One gold chain weighing approximately 8.9 grams
- One gold ring (Battu in the shape of a spring) weighing approximately 20 grams
- Six sets of gold earrings weighing approximately 17.8 grams
- One gold finger ring weighing approximately 7.5 grams
- One gold bracelet weighing approximately 19.4 grams
- One set of gold necklace weighing approximately 46.6 grams
- Two gold bangles weighing approximately 23.4 grams
- Three gold rings weighing approximately 14.2 grams
- One Blue Activa 3G bearing registration number TS 08 EL 1621
- Net cash of Rs 12,000 consisting of 24 currency notes of Rs 500 each
The total value of the recovered property is estimated at Rs 10,00,000.
Accused Confessed During Interrogation
Police said the accused was apprehended at Al-Sabha Hotel, Vijay Nagar Colony, Hyderabad, based on specific information.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the offence.
How the Theft Was Allegedly Committed
According to police, the accused was a friend of the complainant’s niece and frequently visited the complainant’s residence. During those visits, he allegedly observed the layout of the house and the valuables kept inside the almirah.
Police alleged that, on the pretext of the complainant selling her car, he visited the house to collect the car keys. After entering the complainant’s room, he allegedly used the available keys to open the almirah lock, stole the gold ornaments, and later sold them in the Secunderabad Gold Market.
Police further stated that the accused then travelled to Goa, where he spent part of the stolen money on personal expenses. He later returned to Hyderabad, where he was arrested by the Mehdipatnam Police.
