Bakrid celebrated in Telangana with religious fervour

A large number of Muslim brethren, dressed in traditional attire, offered special prayers at various mosques and Eidgahs in Hyderabad and other places in the state to mark the festival.

Hyderabad: Eid-ul-Adha, the festival of sacrifice, popularly known as Bakrid, was celebrated in Telangana with religious fervour and enthusiasm on Thursday.

A large number of Muslim brethren, dressed in traditional attire, offered special prayers at various mosques and Eidgahs in Hyderabad and other places in the state to mark the festival.

Fool-proof security arrangements have been made by the police at mosques and Eidgahs in the city.

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao greeted the muslims on the occasion.

Bakrid is the festival of sacrifice commemorating prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Hazrath Ismail on Allah’s command.
