BRS Senior Leader and dormer GHMC mayor meets CM Reddy

Ahead of Parliament elections, the BRS party has suffered another jolt after its senior leader and former GHMC Mayor Bonthu  Rammohan decided to join the ruling Congress party in Telangana.

Hyderabad: Ahead of Parliament elections, the BRS party has suffered another jolt after its senior leader and former GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan decided to join the ruling Congress party in Telangana.

Bonthu Rammohan called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at his residence here on Sunday and reportedly expressed his desire to join the Congress party.

He served as the Mayor of GHMC after the BRS government came to power for the first time in 2014.

However, Bonthu Rammohan is not happy with the BRS party leadership for some time as the latter has been denied the MLA ticket from Uppal Assembly constituency in the recently held elections.

With the Lok Sabha elections nearing, Bonthu is planning to contest from Malkajgiri seat. Meanwhile, the BRS leadership is now planning to field a son of former minister and Medchel MLA Malla Reddy from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat.

Sensed that he will not get the ticket again in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Bonthu Rammohan has reportedly decided to join Congress. However, there is a tough competition for the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency in the Congress as well.

Moreover, Bonthu Rammohan’s wife Sridevi represents GHMC Corporator from Cherlapalli division.
