Burqa on ramp causes furore; Muslim Body warns of legal action_Video

A video capturing a fashion show led by Muslim women at a college in Uttar Pradesh has gained traction on social media. While the organizers emphasized it as a creative platform for Muslim women, the Jamiat-e-Ulema expressed concern, objecting to the portrayal of the burqa as a “fashion item.”

The videos feature women students elegantly walking the ramp in burqas.

Despite support from some, including a teacher at the college, Maulana Mukarram Qasmi from Jamiat-e-Ulema strongly disapproves, asserting that such displays target a specific religion and may offend the Muslim community’s sentiments. He issued a warning of potential legal action if similar events transpire in the future, claiming that the fashion show has caused religious distress among Muslims.
