Campaign Against Waqf Amendment Act Continues in Maharashtra on Final Day

The campaign to file objections against the Waqf Amendment Act, both online and offline, continued on its final day today, particularly after Friday prayers.

Mumbai: The campaign to file objections against the Waqf Amendment Act, both online and offline, continued on its final day today, particularly after Friday prayers. Across various cities in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Muslim youth actively participated in gathering objections via QR codes from worshippers in mosques.

In South, Central, and suburban areas of Mumbai, young individuals were seen collecting objections outside prominent mosques such as Haji Ismail Haji Alana Sanitarium Mosque, Bhatkali Shah Dargah Mosque, and Sheikh Misri Dargah Mosque. Similar activities were witnessed at Jama Masjid, Minara Masjid, Bari Masjid Madanpura, as well as mosques in Mahim, Jogeshwari, Mumbra, Mira Road, Kalyan, and Rabodi, Thane.

In Malegaon, efforts to raise public awareness and gather objections through QR code scanning were also in full swing. At Juni Mosque, students from Madarsa Zareena held a rally, carrying digital banners and signs, urging the public to scan the QR codes and submit their objections to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), demanding the cancellation of the Waqf Amendment Act. This rally, organized by Idara Maulana Muhammad Hanif Milli, saw a large number of participants joining the movement within hours.

Maulana Mohammed Umrain Mahfooz Rahmani, a prominent member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, also issued an appeal encouraging people to actively oppose the Waqf Amendment Act.

In the Vidarbha region, especially in Yavatmal, youth initiated their own efforts by designing banners with QR codes and distributing pamphlets to 55 mosque imams and community leaders to further the campaign in their localities. The initiative yielded positive results, with many individuals responding by scanning the QR codes and submitting their objections.

The campaign reflects widespread efforts by the Muslim community in Maharashtra to register opposition to the Waqf Amendment Act before the deadline.
