Hyderabad: The representatives of the World Environment Organisation (WEO) ON Wednesday demanded that the State government shut down Deccan Cement factory.
At a press conference organised at the NSS office here, World Environment Organisation National President Dr Ch Bhadra and environmental activist Pasupuleti Suresh Babu, who have been fighting from Gully to Delhi over the cement factory’s atrocities for the last ten years, and treasurer of the organisation Nikhil Sai, the member of the Central Government’s Food distribution Advisory Council members Rizwan Ahmed Vice President Prashanth Assistant Secretary Rajesh Goud alleged that the management of the factory was using the ruling parties for violation of the environmental protection laws and carrying out its business without taking any permission in Mahankaligudem village of Palakidu mandal in Huzurnagar constituency.
They alleged that the factory was not able to comply with the forest laws for the past ten years. They alleged that the officials had hatched many kinds of conspiracies to kill Pasupuleti Suresh, who was fighting for the protection of the environment.
Stating that the present Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had announced on many occasions that he would be at the forefront for the protection of the environment, they demanded that the State government form a committee to inquire into the irregularities committed by the company and close it down.
