Shopping malls in the city saw bustling crowds until Sunday night, as a multitude of people flocked to make last-minute purchases of new clothing, fresh fruits, flowers, and various decorative items, in addition to electronic gadgets such as TV sets and mobile phones, all in preparation for the festivities.
In several places, effigies of Ravana were set ablaze.
