Dasara celebrated with religious zeal and enthusiasm

Hyderabad: Dasara, a festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil, was joyously celebrated throughout Telangana on Monday with great religious fervor and customary enthusiasm.

People offered special prayers in temples and adorned their homes with tasteful decorations on the auspicious Dasara day, marking the culmination of Navaratri and the pujas dedicated to Goddess Durga, symbolizing her victory over the demon Mahishasura.

Shopping malls in the city saw bustling crowds until Sunday night, as a multitude of people flocked to make last-minute purchases of new clothing, fresh fruits, flowers, and various decorative items, in addition to electronic gadgets such as TV sets and mobile phones, all in preparation for the festivities.

In several places, effigies of Ravana were set ablaze.

Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao extended their warm Dasara greetings to the people.
