Union Minister
Giriraj Singh, sparked controversy by urging Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take decisive action to repatriate all illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingya Muslims from the state. During an interaction with students in his constituency, Singh, who holds the position of Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, expressed the view that all foreign infiltrators in the state should be sent back. He stated that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were to form the government in the next assembly elections and Nitish Kumar failed to address this issue, the BJP would take steps to repatriate Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims.
Singh emphasized that the problem of Bangladeshi infiltration should not be seen through the lens of vote bank politics, as the country is already facing the burden of a large population. He called on Nitish Kumar to identify the infiltrators and take appropriate measures to repatriate them.
The BJP, claiming that the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region of the state, which borders Nepal, has a significant population of Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshi infiltrators, has consistently made these allegations.
Additionally, Giriraj Singh stirred controversy earlier when he referred to Nathuram Godse as “proof of Bharat Mata,” asserting that Godse, unlike Babur or Aurangzeb, was not an infiltrator as he was born in the country.
