Telangana Govt to Set Up Special Cancer Screening Centres Based on ‘Cancer Atlas of Telangana’ Report

The Telangana government is planning to establish special cancer screening centres in high-risk areas identified in the “Cancer Atlas of Telangana” report prepared by state government advisor and noted doctor Nori Dattatreyudu. The report was presented during a meeting attended by senior leaders including Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha and MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy.

‘Cancer Atlas of Telangana’ Presented to Telangana Government

State government advisor and prominent doctor Sri Nori Dattatreyudu met senior leadership and presented the “Cancer Atlas of Telangana” report after extensive research and preparation.

The report aims to identify areas with high cancer prevalence and study the reasons behind the disease in different regions of Telangana.

Special appreciation was extended to Nori Dattatreyudu for preparing the report after significant effort.

Special Cancer Screening Centres Planned

Based on the data provided in the “Cancer Atlas of Telangana,” the government announced plans to establish special screening centres in areas reporting a higher number of cancer cases.

Officials said the report would help the government strengthen efforts in the fight against cancer by identifying:

  • Cancer-prone regions
  • Causes behind rising cancer cases
  • Healthcare requirements in affected areas

Proposal to Include Cancer Treatment Under Aarogyasri

The Telangana government also stated that it would consider the suggestion to provide cancer treatment in corporate hospitals under the Aarogyasri health scheme.

The proposal is expected to improve access to advanced cancer treatment for patients across the state.
