Shoaib Akhtar, a former cricketer, expressed his disinterest in getting married again. In a recent appearance on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast, Akhtar discussed his views on second marriages and recounted how he met his wife.
When asked if he would consider remarriage, Akhtar acknowledged that Islam allows multiple marriages, but personally, he believes in the importance of remaining committed to one partner. He believes that once you are emotionally connected to someone and they have made sacrifices for you, it is essential to reciprocate by being kind and considerate towards them. He emphasized the significance of being an inspiration to one’s spouse and achieving that by displaying a strong character.
Akhtar shared the story of how he met his wife, Rubab Khan. He revealed that their families had the opportunity to spend time together during the Hajj pilgrimage. It was during this period that his mother expressed her desire for them to get married. Being a dutiful son, Akhtar agreed to the marriage, as he had never refused his mother’s wishes before.
Although Akhtar considers himself liberal, his wife holds more conservative values. Out of respect for her preferences, he avoids sharing too many details about their personal lives on social media and other public platforms. He fully supports his wife’s decision to maintain privacy.
Akhtar and Khan got married in 2014, towards the end of his successful career, and they now have two sons together.
