Hyderabad: In a remarkable feat of restoration, Hyderabad’s treasured 17th-century relic, the Gulzar Houz fountain, has emerged from neglect and dilapidation to a stunning masterpiece. The restoration journey, completed in a mere four months, is poised to reach its pinnacle as the fountain is on the cusp of a grand inauguration.
Announced by the authorities, the historic Gulzar Houz fountain has undergone an extraordinary transformation, rising from ruins to a radiant landmark. The reconstruction, a marvel achieved in just four months, is a testament to both dedication and expertise. This ambitious endeavor was championed by the Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) in collaboration with Deccan Terrain Heritage, renowned for its proficiency in heritage conservation projects. The fountain’s rebirth was carried out at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, a price seemingly small compared to the invaluable heritage it encapsulates.
As part of its revival, the Gulzar Houz fountain has embraced modernity while retaining its historical charm. LED lights have been artfully integrated into its structure, adding an enchanting radiance to its surroundings. This thoughtful touch not only enhances its aesthetic allure but also illuminates its cultural significance, making it a beacon of heritage in the heart of Hyderabad.
With its restoration complete, the iconic fountain stands ready to greet the public with its reinvigorated splendor. A representative from the QQSUDA shared that the fountain now boasts a renewed persona, exuding an air of freshness and timelessness. Soon, the public will be welcomed to witness this transformation, a privilege to behold the culmination of months of labor and care. The fountain, once neglected and forgotten, will reclaim its place as a cherished centerpiece.
Positioned at the epicenter of four arches—Machli Kaman, Sher-e-Batil Kaman, Kali Kaman, and Charminar Kaman—the Gulzar Houz fountain reigns as a captivating attraction. Its historical significance intertwines seamlessly with the charm of its surroundings. The bustling market enveloping the fountain adds vibrancy to its ambiance, making it a focal point for locals and visitors alike.
The Gulzar Houz fountain’s resurrection serves as a reminder of the city’s enduring connection with its history, embracing it as a living testament to its roots.
