Imam arrested, another person booked for alleged pro-Palestine social media posts

A person from Maudaha, Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly arrested by the police for allegedly attempting to disrupt the peace by posting pro-Palestine comments on social media. Atif Chaudhary and Imam Maulana Sohail Ahmed Ansari, both residents of Maudaha, expressed their support for Palestine online during the Israel-Palestine conflict. A case was registered at Maudaha police station based on a complaint by Sub-Inspector Ravi Mehta, citing relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant asserted that the accused shared slogans on their social media accounts that were prohibited in India, with the intention of fostering discord between groups and disturbing religious and social harmony. Imam Maulana Sohail Ahmed Ansari was apprehended from Maudaha crossing late Friday night, and efforts are underway to arrest the second accused, Atif Chaudhary. The case is currently under investigation.
