Legendary Indian spinner Bishan Singh Bedi no more
Bedi played for India in 67 Tests and ten ODIs, and was India's highest wicket-taker in Tests, with 266 wickets with 14 five-wicket hauls.
New Delhi: Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi here on Monday passed away at the age of 77.
Known as one of the game’s greatest left-arm spinners, Bedi is survived by his wife Anju, and two children – Neha and Angad.
Bedi played for India in 67 Tests and ten ODIs, and was India’s highest wicket-taker in Tests, with 266 wickets with 14 five-wicket hauls.
For the last two years, Bedi was unwell, and had undergone multiple surgeries including one on the knee about a month ago.
Bedi was part of India’s golden quartet – Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chadrasekhar and Srinivas Venkataraghavan – who formed the core of India’s bowling unit for more than a decade between 1966 and 1978.
