A man started smoking ‘Beedi’ on the Bengaluru-bound Akasa Air flight, police said on Wednesday.
In his defence, he claimed that he was first-time flyer and did not know about the rules.
The man is from Rajasthan. He has been arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport.
The 56-year-old boarded the plane at Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Police said that he went to the lavatory midair and smoked,
Soon the flight attendants sprung into action, held him and, on reaching Bengaluru, handed him over to the police.
During interrogation, the passenger told police that during train travels he used to smoke in toilets and tried the same on the plane.
