Modi reaches Kuno Nat’l Park
Modi was received at Gwalior by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra and other eminent citizens.
Sheopur/Gwalior (MP): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on Saturday in Sheopur district’s Kuno National Park – amid heavy security arrangements – for releasing Namibian cheetahs under the maiden intercontinental translocation project of its kind.
A special plane conveyed the Prime Minister from the national capital to Gwalior divisional headquarters at approximately 1000 hrs from where he journeyed by an Army helicopter to Kuno where a helipad was created for the express purpose of the prime ministerial visit. Mr Modi was received at Gwalior by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra and other eminent citizens.
Earlier, a specially-equipped plane carrying the eight carnivores departed from Africa on Friday and landed in Gwalior this morning. The animals and the officials accompanying them were received by Union Civil Aviation and Steel Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia. The beasts – in special cages – were subsequently transported by helicopter to their new home.
