Powerful Earthquake in Haiti, Tsunami Alert Issued
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre also approved the quake in the region and recorded intensity was 7.6 magnitudes.
Port-au-Prince: Western Haiti was rattled with a powerful earthquake and Richter scale has recorded its intensity at 7.2. Authorities issued tsunami alert and asked people to vacate the areas in the vicinity of seashore.
Unites States Geological Survey has said that a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the western Haiti. Earthquake has damaged buildings in the Caribbean Nation.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre also approved the quake in the region and recorded intensity was 7.6 magnitudes.
Authorities have confirmed that shocks were felt throughout Haiti and in neighboring countries. Material damaged reports were also received.
Haiti is still recovering from a magnitude 7 earthquake closer to the capital 11 years ago that killed thousands of people and flattened several buildings, leaving many homeless.
Haiti has also been in a state of political turmoil since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in July.
