Hyderabad: The Sankranti festival has brought grief to many families. Many young men and children, who flew kites with enthusiasm accidentally died in kite flying related incidents.
While some of the kites led to loss of their lives due to electric shock while picking them up after getting stuck to the electric wires, others died while flying kites and fell from the top of the buildings. So far, nine people have died due to kites.
A youth was killed while flying kites in Yapral under Bolaram police station limits. Bhuvan Sai, a boy, fell from the fourth floor of the building while flying a kite. The boy, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Two 12-year-old children from Kalluru in Korutla town were electrocuted while flying kites. On the occasion of Sankranthi festival, kites were flying when they came in contact with an electric wire and received a shock. Both of them fell from the top of the building.
Half of one person’s body was burnt in the incident. Another was grievously injured. Family members and locals noticed this and rushed the children to a local hospital. Doctors said the condition of one of them was critical.
