Stones, diamonds worth crores along with foreign currency seized at RGIA

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Hyderabad Zonal Unit, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted two passengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), here on Friday.
Upon inquiry and baggage inspection, DRI officers discovered precious stones, Lab Grown Diamonds, Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) Diamonds, and Natural Diamonds concealed in zipped plastic pouches wrapped in white papers and sealed within chocolate packets.
The total material weighed 5569.64 carats, valued at Rs. 6,03,51,017.
Additionally, Indian Currency of Rs. 1,00,000 and Foreign Currency of Rs. 9,83,509 were found in the baggage. Both passengers have been arrested, and further investigation is underway, a DRI statement said on Friday.
