Suspension not enough: Muslim Personal Law Board
Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani termed the protest against blasphemy of Prophet (peace be upon him) as natural and justifiable
New Delhi: General Secretary, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said that the blasphemous remarks against the Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) made by some leaders of the ruling party in recent days, have caused great pain to all Muslims in the country and abroad and also tarnished the image of the country among the international community.
Welcoming the suspension of such people from the party, Maulana said it is certainly a good thing, but it is not enough. He called for punishment and legal action against such people.
Maulana also called for a law that criminalizes the blasphemy of holy figures of different religions.
Maulana Rahmani termed the protest against the blasphemy as natural and justifiable. He said that the manner in which one-sided and discriminatory action is being taken against the protestors in Uttar Pradesh is extremely regrettable and reprehensible.
