Telangana ACB Traps Suryapet Ground Water Officer, Data Entry Operator for Allegedly Accepting ₹20,000 Bribe

Telangana ACB trapped Suryapet District Ground Water Officer Megavath Balu and Data Entry Operator Kosanoju Venkateshwarlu for allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe for approving a borewell drilling rig.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday trapped Megavath Balu, District Ground Water Officer, Suryapet, and Kosanoju Venkateshwarlu, an outsourced Data Entry Operator, for allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe to grant permission for operating a borewell drilling rig. The trap was conducted by ACB officials of the Nalgonda Range, and the accused are being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. Further investigation is underway.

ACB Conducts Trap Over Alleged ₹20,000 Bribe

According to the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Megavath Balu, District Ground Water Officer, Suryapet, allegedly demanded a ₹20,000 bribe through Kosanoju Venkateshwarlu, an outsourced Data Entry Operator.

The alleged demand was made in return for granting approval to the complainant’s borewell drilling rig and for refraining from imposing unnecessary penalties or seizing the equipment.

Bribe Recovered During ACB Trap

The trap was laid by ACB officials of the Nalgonda Range.

During the operation, the ₹20,000 bribe amount was recovered from the possession of Kosanoju Venkateshwarlu, the outsourced Data Entry Operator, at the instance of Megavath Balu, the District Ground Water Officer.

According to the ACB, both accused allegedly abused their official positions by improperly and dishonestly seeking an undue advantage.

Accused Produced Before Special Court

The ACB said both officials are being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand.

The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.

The ACB confirmed that further investigation is underway.
