Telangana CM asks officials to remain alert over rain situation

The Chief Minister directed officials to make additional arrangements at paddy procurement centres and instructed them to speed up paddy procurement operations.
He emphasised that adequate tarpaulins should be kept ready to prevent the paddy stored in procurement yards from getting wet. He also ordered officials to shift tarpaulins from centres where procurement has already been completed.
In view of the weather department’s warning of strong gusty winds, the Chief Minister advised people to remain cautious and alert.
Meanwhile, people reeling under heatwave conditions for the last few days got a respite following rains at several places on Tuesday night.
The weather turned pleasant in Hyderabad and other districts with rains accompanied by gusty winds.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an orange alert for several districts.
Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with surface wind speed of 30-40 kmph are likely over Hyderabad, Jangoan, Mahabad, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, Devarakadara in Mahabubnagar district received the highest rainfall of 136.6 mm during a 12-hour period, ending 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Chinna Chintha Kunta and Serivenkatapur, both in Mahabubnagar district, recorded 47.8 and 34.3 mm rainfall, respectively.
Mujahidpur in Vikarabad district saw 25.3 mm rainfall, while Watpalle in Sangareddy district recorded 17.3 mm rainfall.
In Greater Hyderabad, Malkajgiri’s Vinayak Nagar Ward Office recorded the highest rainfall at 21.3 mm, followed by the BHEL factory area at 17 mm.
Secunderabad, Balanagar, Bowenpalli, Ameerpet, Kukatpally, KPHB Colony, Chanda Nagar, Miyapur, Gachibowli, Lakdikapul, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Rajendranagar, and other areas in Hyderabad recorded light to moderate rains.
