Sankranthi festival is celebrated by the people, especially in the Telugu States. However, in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, the festive mood is even higher.
With this, APSRTC and TSRTC have arranged special buses from Hyderabad to various parts of AP. Those who own vehicles (cars and other vehicles) are travelling to their native places in their vehicles.
Vehicular traffic on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway has increased. Traffic jams have become a common scene. Motorists and commuters suffered a lot on Saturday due to the increase in vehicular traffic on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway.
Vehicles moved slowly on the highway due to fog in the morning hours. A large number of vehicles were stranded at the Choutuppal Panthangi toll plaza. Traffic has been disrupted at many places due to the ongoing work on the six-lane road from LB Nagar to Dandumalkapuram.
On the other hand, bus stands and railway stations in the city have become crowded with passengers going to rural areas of AP and Telangana.
The APSRTC is running special buses for passengers for the Sankranthi festival. Some 1,600 buses have been allotted for those coming from Hyderabad. Besides, 1,000 more buses have been allotted by APSRTC.
TSRTC is also operating more than 1,000 special buses from Hyderabad to different parts of Andhra Pradesh in view of the festival. The South-Central Railway is also operating 115 special trains between the two Telugu States to cash in on the festival rush.
