Ensure No Eligible Voter Is Left Out During SIR: Akbaruddin Owaisi Advises Telangana Government
AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi urges the Telangana government to ensure no eligible voter is excluded during the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists.

As Telangana prepares for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, AIMIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi has urged the state government and election authorities to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of the right to vote during the process. He said the core purpose of SIR is to correct and strengthen voter lists, not to remove genuine voters in large numbers.

“SIR Must Be Fair, Transparent, and Inclusive”
Owaisi stressed that authorities must take special care so that all eligible citizens remain on the voter list and no injustice occurs. He cautioned that mistakes during verification could harm democracy if eligible voters are excluded without proper checks or information.
Lessons From Other States
Citing examples from Bihar and other states, Owaisi said there were widespread complaints during SIR where voters’ names were removed without adequate verification or prior notice. He warned that such practices are a dangerous trend for the democratic system, especially when people are unaware of deletions.
Focus on Vulnerable Groups
With SIR preparations gaining momentum in Telangana, Owaisi called for clear guidelines in advance to ensure a transparent process. He emphasized that certain groups face a higher risk of exclusion and must receive special attention:
- Poor and migrant workers
- Minority communities
- Daily-wage earners
- People who frequently relocate
Key Demands During SIR
Owaisi demanded the following safeguards to protect voters’ rights:
- Complete public awareness about the SIR process
- Proper training for Booth Level Officers (BLOs)
- Easy and quick re-inclusion if a voter’s name is wrongly deleted
He underlined that the right to vote is a fundamental right and must not be compromised under any circumstances.
Call to Government and Election Authorities
In his concluding remarks, Owaisi said it is the responsibility of the government and the Election Commission of India to maintain public trust and conduct SIR in a manner that allows every eligible voter to exercise their franchise without fear or confusion.
