He said that the challans could be cleared till the 10th of this month. Motorists have been asked to take advantage of this opportunity by him. Stating that There are 3 crore 59 lakh challans pending in Telangana, he said that Till date, 77 lakh challans had been cleared.
A pending challan amount of Rs 67 crore has been collected, he revealed. “Pending challans amount of Rs 18 crore has been collected in Hyderabad commissioner limits, Rs 14 crore in Cyberabad commissionerate limits and Rs 7.15 crore in Rachakonda police commissionerate limits. A total of Rs 67 crore of pending challan amount has been collected in the state,” he said.
Vishwa Prasad said that there were no problems with the traffic challan website. “It has come to our notice through social media about the two fake challan websites. It has come to our notice that they were created by cyber criminals six months ago. We lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police immediately. There is no need to panic as the fake website did not have payment gateways,” he said. He appealed to all vehicle users to follow the traffic rules.
The Telangana government has announced a huge subsidy for motorists to pay the pending traffic challans. As on December 25 2023 there were 3.59 crore pending challans across the state.
The government has announced a huge discount on the challans. 80 per cent subsidy has been given for the bikes and auto rikshaws. TSRTC buses have been given 90 per cent subsidy and other vehicles have been given 60 per cent concession.
