Uppal Roads Flooded as Delayed Flyover Project Leaves Public Worried

Hyderabad: Heavy flooding and water stagnation on roads in Uppal have caused severe inconvenience to motorists and local residents, with commuters reportedly facing major difficulties due to the ongoing delay in the Uppal-Narapalli flyover project.

Following heavy rainfall, several roads in the area were inundated, leaving motorists struggling to navigate through the flooded stretches. Officials were reportedly forced to deploy motor pumps to drain the accumulated water and restore traffic movement.

Vehicle drivers expressed frustration over the recurring problems, alleging that the prolonged flyover construction works have made commuting increasingly difficult and contributed to waterlogging in the area.

The Uppal-Narapalli flyover project, which was reportedly launched in July 2018, has remained a source of hardship for residents and commuters for nearly eight years. Locals have criticised both the Central and State governments over the delay in completing the project and alleged negligence in addressing the long-standing issue.

The project has also faced repeated delays, raising concerns among residents who have been waiting for the infrastructure work to be completed and traffic conditions to improve.

Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had earlier announced that the flyover works would begin by Dasara. However, residents and motorists have expressed doubts over whether the project will make meaningful progress by the promised deadline.

Looking at the current pace of work, locals sarcastically remarked that the project may not even see a proper start by Dasara 2027.

Residents have urged the authorities to expedite the flyover works, improve drainage infrastructure and take immediate measures to prevent waterlogging so that commuters are not forced to endure the same hardships during every spell of heavy rain.
