Hyderabad: Police constable fatally shot as gun accidentally misfired

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a police constable lost his life when his firearm accidentally misfired as he was preparing to rest after his duty at Hussaini Alam Police Station in the Old City on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Bhupathi Srikanth. He had been on sentry duty. As he was about to settle down for rest after completing his duty, the firearm he was carrying was inadvertently discharged, resulting in the fatal incident.

Alert staff members noticed the unfortunate situation and, without delay, rushed him to Osmania General Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway, police said.
