GHMC Cracks Down on Footpath Encroachments in Mallepally, Demolitions Near Anwar-ul-Uloom College

GHMC demolishes illegal footpath constructions in Mallepally near Anwar-ul-Uloom College, Hyderabad, following traffic complaints. Police bandobast arranged

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a strict demolition drive against illegal constructions on footpaths in the Mallepally area of the Nampally Assembly Constituency, following complaints of severe traffic congestion and pedestrian inconvenience.

The action was carried out around Anwar-ul-Uloom College, which comes under the limits of Habib Nagar Police Station, officials said.

Illegal Footpath Constructions Removed

GHMC officials said several unauthorised commercial structures built on footpaths were removed as part of the drive. These encroachments were causing:
Traffic bottlenecks
Difficulty for pedestrians
Safety risks to commuters
Officials warned that legal action will be taken against those who carry out illegal constructions on public land.

Traffic Complaints Triggered Action

The demolition drive was initiated after repeated complaints from local residents and road users about increasing traffic problems due to footpath encroachments. GHMC said footpaths are meant for pedestrians and will not be allowed to be misused for commercial purposes.

Police Bandobast to Prevent Untoward Incidents

GHMC officials reiterated that similar anti-encroachment drives will continue across Hyderabad, especially in areas where public movement is affected.
The footpath encroachment removal drive in Mallepally sends a strong message that public spaces must remain accessible and free from illegal occupation.
