Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy informed Governor Jishnu Dev Varma that students across the state will take a pledge against tobacco, alcohol and drugs when schools reopen on June 12. The Chief Minister also announced that student kits containing uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, school bags, sportswear and other essential items will be distributed from the first day of the new academic year.

Revanth Reddy Meets Telangana Governor at Lok Bhavan
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a courtesy meeting with Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister informed the Governor about the state government’s plans for the reopening of schools on June 12.
Students to Take Anti-Drug Pledge in Telangana Schools
The Chief Minister informed the Governor that students across Telangana will take a collective pledge against tobacco, alcohol and narcotic drugs on the reopening day of schools.
The programme aims to create awareness among students against addiction and substance abuse.
Student Kits to Be Distributed on School Reopening Day
CM Revanth Reddy informed the Governor that student kits will be distributed from the first day of the academic year itself.
According to the Chief Minister, the kits will contain:

- Textbooks
- Notebooks
- School bags
- Sportswear
- Other essential materials required for students
Governor Invited for Formal Launch Programme
The Chief Minister invited Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to formally launch the anti-drug pledge and student kit distribution programme.
Schools and Colleges to Create Awareness Against Drugs
The Chief Minister said educational institutions would take necessary measures to ensure students do not fall victim to drugs and addictions.
He said schools and colleges would conduct awareness activities and remain alert to prevent substance abuse among students.
School Education Department, Police and EAGLE to Conduct Programme
The School Education Department, Police Department and EAGLE will jointly organise the mass pledge and related programmes across Telangana.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at creating drug-free and safe educational institutions in the state.
Collective Responsibility to Build Drug-Free Campuses
CM Revanth Reddy informed the Governor that the main objective of the programme is to create awareness among students, teachers, parents and educational institution managements about their collective responsibility in making schools and colleges safe and drug-free.
