Habitual Chain Snatcher Involved in Over 180 Cases Held by CCS, Saifabad Police in Hyderabad

CCS Hyderabad and Saifabad Police apprehended Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri, a habitual chain snatcher allegedly involved in more than 180 snatching cases across Telangana, with 14 pending NBWs.

The Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department (DD), Hyderabad, along with Saifabad Police, apprehended a notorious and habitual chain snatcher allegedly involved in more than 180 chain-snatching cases across Telangana. The accused, Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri alias Abdullah alias Sohail alias Altaf, had been absconding since 2023 after allegedly committing a series of gold chain snatching offences in Hyderabad. Police said 14 Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) are pending against him.

CCS and Saifabad Police Apprehend Notorious Chain Snatcher

According to the press note, on June 2, 2026, acting on credible information, the Special Crime Team, CCS, DD Hyderabad apprehended one accused person who was allegedly involved in more than 180 snatching cases across Telangana State.

The accused has been identified as:

  • Name: Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri @ Abdullah @ Sohail @ Altaf
  • Father’s Name: Late Md Ibrahim @ Sayeed Ahmed Khan
  • Age: 43 years
  • Occupation: Unemployed
  • Address: H.No. 13-2-18/A, Murad Nagar, Near Prince School, Asifnagar, Hyderabad

2023 Gold Chain Snatching Cases in Hyderabad

Police stated that during 2023, the accused allegedly committed a series of gold chain snatching offences under the limits of:

  • Saifabad Police Station
  • Moghalpura Police Station
  • Charminar Police Station
  • Nampally Police Station

After allegedly committing these offences, he absconded and remained untraceable since then.

14 Non-Bailable Warrants Pending Against Accused

Police said the accused is a notorious and habitual offender involved in more than 180 snatching cases across Telangana State.

Authorities further stated that he is absconding in several cases and that 14 Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) are currently pending against him.

Accused Allegedly Fled to Bengaluru and Andhra Pradesh

According to police, after allegedly committing the chain-snatching offences in Hyderabad, the accused fled to Bengaluru to evade arrest.

From Bengaluru, he allegedly moved to Rayachoti Town and stayed there for some time.

During his stay, he allegedly committed three additional chain-snatching cases under the limits of:

  • Rayachoti Police Station
  • Chennur Police Station

Both police stations fall within Andhra Pradesh State, according to the police.

Special Crime Team Led Operation

The apprehension was carried out by Sri Ch. Sudhakar Rao, Inspector of Police, Special Crime Team, along with his staff.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Sri G. Venkateswar Reddy, ACP, Special Crime Team, CCS, Hyderabad.

The overall guidance for the operation was provided by Sri S. Chaitanya Kumar, DCP, DD, Hyderabad.

Police said the accused had been absconding since 2023 after allegedly committing a series of gold chain snatching offences under the limits of Saifabad, Moghalpura, Charminar and Nampally Police Stations. With 14 pending Non-Bailable Warrants and allegations of additional offences in Bengaluru, Rayachoti and Chennur, further legal proceedings are expected.
