Akbaruddin Owaisi Appointed as Protem Speaker for Telangana Assembly

Akbaruddin Owaisi, a leading figure in the AIMIM and six-time MLA, is appointed as the Protem Speaker for the start of the Telangana Assembly session.

Hyderabad: Akbaruddin Owaisi, the prominent floor leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), elected six times as an MLA, has been assigned the role of Protem Speaker for the commencement of the Telangana Assembly session.

On Saturday, Akbaruddin Owaisi will administer the oath to the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

The Telangana Assembly session is slated to begin on Saturday and extend over four days. Akbaruddin Owaisi will discharge the duties of Protem Speaker until the election of a new Speaker.

In an unforeseen development, the BRS Supremo and 8 times MLA KCR initially expected to assume the Protem Speaker role, has been hospitalized due to a sudden health issue.

Doctors have advised an eight-week rest for KCR. Distinguished leaders from various parties, including Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Danam Nagender from the BRS, Akbaruddin Owaisi from the AIMIM, and Uttam Kumar Reddy and T. Nageshwar Rao from the Congress, are among the senior leaders.

Both Congress leaders have taken the oath as ministers. Consequently, the ruling Congress government has appointed Akbaruddin Owaisi as the Protem Speaker. Akbaruddin Owaisi has graciously accepted the government’s request.”
