Bandi Bhageerath Skips Police Interrogation in POCSO Case, Anticipatory Bail Plea Filed in Telangana High Court

Hyderabad, May 13: Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, did not appear before police for interrogation in connection with a POCSO case registered against him at the Pet Basheerabad Police Station in Hyderabad. The case is currently being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), while Bhagirath has approached the Telangana High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

Police had issued a notice directing Bandi Bhageerath to appear for questioning at 2 pm on May 13. However, despite the scheduled time passing, he did not attend the interrogation.

POCSO Case Registered Against Bandi Bhageerath

According to police officials, a POCSO case was registered against Bandi Bhageerath at Pet Basheerabad Police Station in Hyderabad.

The investigation is being conducted by the SIT. Police also recorded a second statement from the victim as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities stated that multiple legal sections were added to the FIR in the case.

Sections Added in FIR

Police registered cases under:

  • Section 5 (i) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
  • BNS Sections 74 and 75

Police also added Section 5 (i) of the IPC for aggravated sexual assault and premeditated sexual assault against the accused.

Notice Issued for Police Interrogation

Police served a notice to Bandi Bhageerath asking him to appear before investigators at 2 pm on May 13 for questioning related to the case.

However, even after the scheduled time elapsed, Bhageerath did not appear before the police for interrogation.

Anticipatory Bail Petition Filed in Telangana High Court

Meanwhile, Bandi Bhageerath filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

The vacation bench of the High Court is scheduled to hear the anticipatory bail petition on Thursday.

Investigation Ongoing

The SIT investigation into the POCSO case against Bandi Bhageerath is ongoing. Police are continuing legal proceedings after recording the victim’s second statement and adding additional sections to the FIR.

Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, did not appear for police interrogation in a POCSO case registered at Pet Basheerabad Police Station in Hyderabad.
