Dara Shikoh International Conference at MANUU

Hyderabad: The Department of Persian, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing Dara Shikoh International Conference on “Majma-ul-Bahrain of Dara Shikoh Harbinger of Pluralistic Approach towards Religion and Spirituality” on July 26 & 27 to mark Silver Jubilee year of MANUU.
According to Prof. Shahid Naukhez Azmi, Head, Department of Persian and Director Conference, Syed Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Former Union Minister of Minority Affairs will be the chief guest of the inaugural session. The University Chancellor, Mr. Mumtaz Ali is the Chief Patron & Keynote Speaker whereas Prof Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor will be the Patron.
Dr. Krishna Gopal, Eminent Scholar, Dara Shikoh Studies is the chief guest and keynote speaker for valedictory session to be held on July 27. Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Dr. Mohammad Ali Rabbani, Cultural Counsellor, Iran Culture House, New Delhi, Haji Syed Salman Chishti, Gaddi Nasheen, Dargah Ajmer Sharif, Prof. Shaikh Aquil Ahmad, Director, NCPUL, New Delhi and Mr. Amar Hasan, Eminent Scholar, Syria will deliver invited talks during the conference.
The conference aims to explore the multi-facets historical personality of Dara Shikoh. Majma-ul-Bahrain as one of the earliest works of comparative religion has both intellectual and literary merit and given the political situation and the increase in orthodoxy since Shahjahan’s times what is creditable of Dara Shikoh’s treatise is the courage and conviction that makes it a harbinger of pluralistic approach towards religion and spirituality.
