From Ayesha Khan’s Detention to Salman Khan’s Support, Bollywood Celebrities Back NEET Student Movement

Mumbai The student movement against the alleged NEET 2026 paper leak and examination irregularities is increasingly receiving support from prominent personalities from Bollywood, music and the arts.

Actress Ayesha Khan has attracted significant attention after sharing videos on Instagram in which she claimed that Mumbai Police detained her despite her being present peacefully to express solidarity with protesting NEET students.

In a video reportedly recorded from a police van, Ayesha Khan appeared emotional as she said that she had been taken into custody merely for standing on the road peacefully. She claimed that she had arrived with her brother and a few friends and was trying to understand the situation after police allegedly detained them.

The actress further alleged that she was taken to a police van by police personnel, including women officers, and later shifted to the Worli Police Station. She questioned the reasons for her detention and said she had repeatedly asked officers under which law she was being detained but did not receive a clear explanation.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi reportedly visited Jantar Mantar in Delhi to express solidarity with the protesting students. She was accompanied by actor Rachit Singh and her brother, actor Saqib Saleem. Before the protest, Qureshi had expressed concern over alleged police action and said that such issues should be resolved through dialogue and restraint rather than the use of force.

Several other prominent personalities, including actors Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj and Naseeruddin Shah, also reportedly joined the demonstration at Jantar Mantar and voiced their support for the students’ demands.

In Mumbai, actor Imran Khan also expressed support for the protesters and reportedly participated in a protest march, meeting students and standing in solidarity with them. He had previously spoken out on examination irregularities and alleged police action against students.

Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh also issued a joint statement expressing support for the younger generation. Other celebrities, including Sonakshi Sinha, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Bhumi Pednekar, Diljit Dosanjh and musician Vishal Dadlani, have also reportedly backed the movement and urged the government to address students’ concerns.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also reportedly broke his silence on the issue, describing the alleged NEET paper leak as a serious matter. He stressed that the same level of honesty expected from students should also be reflected in the institutions responsible for conducting examinations. Khan also reportedly called for the students’ movement to remain focused on education and their future rather than being given a political colour.

The hip-hop and rap community has also joined the growing campaign. Rapper Raftaar reportedly attended a protest in Mumbai, interacted with students and expressed his support for their demands. Rapper Hanumankind also reportedly participated in the demonstrations and voiced solidarity with the protesting students.

Over the past few days, several prominent names, including Arijit Singh, Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Prakash Raj, Riteish Deshmukh, Vir Das, Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh, have reportedly expressed support for the student movement.

The protests, which began over alleged irregularities and a suspected paper leak in the NEET examination, have now developed into a wider national debate. Students and supporters are demanding greater transparency in the examination system, accountability for alleged irregularities and dialogue with protesting students to address their concerns.
