Mumbai on Alert as Prohibitory Orders Issued Till August 6 Amid CJP Protests
Police officials said information received from various sources indicated the possibility of disruption to public order, disturbance of public peace and potential threats to life and property. Based on these inputs, prohibitory orders have been enforced across Mumbai.
Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have imposed prohibitory orders across the city to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. The restrictions will remain in force from July 24 to August 6.
According to the Mumbai Police, protests have recently been held in several parts of the city in support of demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities and a suspected paper leak in the NEET examination. In view of the situation, authorities have taken precautionary measures to prevent any possible disturbance.

Under the restrictions, the assembly of five or more people without prior permission has been prohibited. Carrying weapons, explosive substances, sticks or other potentially dangerous objects has also been banned.
The police order further prohibits slogans, speeches, singing, playing music, symbolic protests, and the display of banners, posters, placards or other signs in public places if authorities consider them potentially harmful to public peace, state security or public order.
The Mumbai Police have made it clear that any protest or demonstration held without prior permission will be considered illegal. Violators will face legal action and cases may be registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act.

Earlier on July 20, thousands of students and CJP supporters reportedly marched from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament to protest against alleged irregularities and a suspected paper leak in the NEET examination. The protesters also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Tensions reportedly escalated during the march, leading to clashes between police personnel and protesters. Following the developments, security arrangements were tightened in several cities across the country.
In Mumbai, additional police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations. Authorities said all necessary measures are being taken to maintain peace and ensure public safety across the city.
