Hyderabad: 14-yr-old, Nawaz dies under suspicious circumstances at Moghalpura

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old boy Mohd Nawaz, son of Riaz Ahmed, died under suspicious circumstances while playing volley ball at Andheri Galli area, Moghalpura on Saturday night.

The boy, a resident of Alijah Kotla, was a Class IX student of government school. According to the police, the boy allegedly collapsed around midnight on Saturday, while playing volley ball. On learning about the incident, his parents rushed him to Osmania General Hospital where doctors declared dead on arrival.

The family members believe that Nawaz might have died due to dehydration as he was observing fast since the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

However, seeing a few injury marks on his face, his father grew suspicious and decided to file a complaint to investigate the cause.

According to the police, the boy who was fasting during the day did not have sufficient dinner after iftar and went to play volleyball post offering Taraweeh prayer.

While the few boys playing with Nawaz claimed that others beat him up, others told that he collapsed to the ground while playing.

Telangana Today quoted an official of Moghalpura police station as saying, “There are no external injuries on the body to indicate that he was attacked. However we have suspicion on the circumstances leading to the death as different versions are coming. A case was booked and we are awaiting the autopsy report.”

After postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members on Sunday.
