Hyderabad Disha Encounter was Staged, Claims Prime Accused’s Father

Pinjari Hussain testified before the Supreme Court-appointed inquiry commission on Friday that his son and prime accused, Mohammed Arif alias Ahmed, was taken from their home by the police and later gunned down.

Hyderabad: The father of the main accused in the Hyderabad Disha encounter case has claimed that his son was the victim of a fake encounter.

Pinjari Hussain testified before the Supreme Court-appointed inquiry commission on Friday that his son and prime accused, Mohammed Arif alias Ahmed, was taken from their home by the police and later gunned down.

The families of the three remaining accused, who were also killed in the police encounter, are scheduled to appear before the Sirpurkar Commission on Saturday. They are Rajayya, Jollu Shiva’s father, Kurmanna, Chintakuntla Chennakeshavulu’s father, and Lakshmi, Jollu Naveen’s mother.

The rape and murder of a young veterinarian occurred on November 27, 2019. Four persons were tracked down and apprehended by the police.

All four accused were killed in an encounter in Shadnagar on December 6, the same year. According to the police, the accused attempted to take their arms and flee, which resulted in the killings.

Human rights activists took to the Supreme Court after this incident.

Thereafter, the Sirpurkar Commission was appointed to conduct an inquiry into the killings.  Following which, the Sirpurkar Commission was formed to investigate the killings. (IANS)
