Hyderabad Task Force Busts Interstate Ganja Peddling Racket, 3 Accused Held with 22.22 Kg Dry Ganja Worth Rs 12 Lakh

Hyderabad Commissioner's Task Force and Balapur Police busted an interstate ganja peddling racket, arresting three accused and seizing 22.22 kg of dry ganja worth Rs 12 lakh. Two key accused are absconding.

The Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone, in coordination with the Balapur Police Station (PS), busted an interstate ganja peddling racket by apprehending three interstate ganja peddlers near Sadat Nagar Bus Stop, Shaheen Nagar, Balapur, Hyderabad. The police seized 22.22 kg of dry ganja, four mobile phones, two trolley bags, and one backpack, with the total value of the seized property estimated at Rs 12,00,000. Two key accused, including the alleged main peddler and supplier, are currently absconding.

Interstate Ganja Peddlers Arrested Near Sadat Nagar Bus Stop

According to the police, on July 21, 2026, acting on a tip-off, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone Team, along with the staff of Balapur PS, conducted an operation near Sadat Nagar Bus Stop, Shaheen Nagar, Balapur, Hyderabad, under the limits of Balapur Police Station.

During the operation, the team apprehended three interstate ganja peddlers who were allegedly in possession of a large quantity of dry ganja. Police seized 22.22 kg of dry ganja from their possession.

Details of the Accused

The arrested accused have been identified as:

  1. Mirza Jaffer Baig @ Saddam, son of late Mirza Yousuf Baig, 35 years, Auto Driver, resident of Near Ameena Masjid, Shaheen Nagar, Hyderabad. Police said he is a Rowdy Sheeter of Balapur PS.
  2. Awad Bin Ali Yafai @ Awad, son of Ali Bin Abid Yafai, 22 years, Wall Painter, resident of Kothapet, Barkas, Hyderabad.
  3. Sardar Manpreet Singh Dhillon @ Dhillon, son of Harjeet Singh Dhillon, 22 years, Welder, resident of Sikh Chavni, Kishanbagh, Hyderabad.

Police seized the following items from the accused:

Police Reveal Modus Operandi of Interstate Ganja Peddling Racket

During interrogation, police found that all three accused are habitual offenders.

  • Mirza Jaffer Baig @ Saddam is a Rowdy Sheeter of Balapur PS and has previously been involved in 22 criminal cases, including murders and attempt murder cases.
  • Awad Bin Ali Yafai @ Awad has allegedly been involved in 10 theft cases.
  • Sardar Manpreet Singh Dhillon @ Dhillon has allegedly been involved in two attempt to murder cases.

Police said the three accused were introduced to Ibrahim Baamar, a resident of Kothapet, Balapur, Hyderabad, who is also described as a habitual offender.

The group allegedly decided to procure ganja from Berhampur, Odisha State, and sell it to customers in Hyderabad.

Ganja Purchased from Odisha, Transported by Train and Bus

As per the investigation, on July 17, 2026, all four allegedly travelled to Berhampur, Odisha State, where they purchased 22 kg of dry ganja from Janni @ Sunny, a resident of Berhampur, Odisha State, at the rate of Rs 5,000 per kg.

The ganja was packed into three bags, and the accused returned by train towards Khammam.

Police said that on July 20, 2026, during the afternoon, following the instructions of Ibrahim Baamar, Mirza Jaffer Baig, Awad Bin Ali Yafai, and Sardar Manpreet Singh Dhillon got down from the train at Khammam and boarded a bus to Hyderabad, while Ibrahim Baamar continued his journey by train to Hyderabad.

According to the police, this plan was adopted to escape police surveillance.

Customer Delivery Plan Foiled by Task Force

Police said Ibrahim Baamar informed the three accused that he would send a person to collect the ganja and instructed them to hand over the contraband.

On July 21, 2026, during the evening hours, the accused reached Sadat Nagar Bus Stop and allegedly waited for the customer.

Acting on specific information, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone Team, along with Balapur PS, intercepted and apprehended all three accused and seized the contraband.

Main Peddler and Supplier Absconding

Police stated that the alleged main peddler, Ibrahim Bin Saleem Baamar @ Ibrahim Baamar, resident of Kothapet, Balapur, Hyderabad, and the alleged main supplier, Janni @ Sunny, resident of Berhampur, Odisha State, are currently absconding.

Further investigation is underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Charminar Zone Task Force Team and the staff of Balapur Police Station, Hyderabad.
