Hyderabad: Cricket enthusiasts in Hyderabad are gearing up for the inaugural edition of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), a revolutionary T10 tennis ball tournament set to unfold inside a stadium.
The tournament, scheduled to kick off from March 2nd to March 9th, 2024, promises to be a breeding ground for emerging cricket stars, according to Jatin Paranjape, former India selector and Head of the ISPL Selection Committee.
At a press conference organized by the Indian Street Premier League in Hyderabad, Paranjape expressed his optimism about the impact of the tournament on the cricketing landscape. “Tennis ball cricket has a massive following, and numerous players possess exceptional talent that often goes unnoticed due to a lack of platforms or knowledge on how to progress. The Indian Street Premier League is their solution,” he remarked.
The ISPL will feature six competitive teams – Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) – engaging in 19 high-intensity matches during the inaugural edition in Mumbai.
Addressing the media, Paranjape said, “This tournament provides these players with a significant national stage to showcase and refine their skills, coupled with invaluable guidance from veteran players with Ranji Trophy and domestic tournament experience. I am sure that Hyderabad will see many more players in the Indian cricket team coming from the Indian Street Premier League.”
Players aspiring to make their mark on the national stage are invited to register for the ISPL on the official website www.ispl-t10.com. The registration offers players a chance to secure a ‘Golden Ticket,’ granting them an opportunity to participate in city trials. Details for each venue’s trials will be announced soon. Selected players will then receive a ‘Green Ticket’ to attend the final trials in Mumbai, with specific dates and venues to be disclosed shortly.
The ISPL aims to bridge the gap between the streets and the stadium, providing a platform for players to refine their skills and showcase their potential on a national stage. SK Kamaruddin, a prominent fast bowler from Hyderabad, lauded the league, stating, “The Indian Street Premier League is a blessing for us and the entire tennis ball community in Hyderabad. We are grateful to the organizers for providing us with this platform.”
Kamaruddin encouraged fellow players to register, emphasizing the exceptional opportunity the ISPL presents to enhance skills and compete with players from across the country.
The Indian Street Premier League was inaugurated in Mumbai last month, with former Team India coach Ravi Shastri and Core Committee Members Shri. Ashish Shelar, Shri. Amol Kale, and League Commissioner Shri. Suraj Samat in attendance.
Cricket enthusiasts and aspiring players alike are urged to visit www.ispl-t10.com to register and be part of this groundbreaking cricketing extravaganza.
