A heartbreaking family tragedy in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district has left an entire community in shock after an 18-year-old youth, his father and mother died following a dispute reportedly linked to the instalments of an iPhone.

According to police, the incident was initially believed to be an accident, but the preliminary investigation indicated that a family dispute may have preceded the tragedy.
The deceased youth, identified as Kunal Chandgade, had reportedly purchased an iPhone and was seeking money from his family to pay the monthly instalments. An argument allegedly broke out between Kunal and his father, Murlidhar Chandgade, over payment of the latest instalment.
Following the argument, Kunal reportedly left home and went to a hill in the Tisgaon area. After learning about the situation, his parents rushed to the spot, where a large number of local residents had also gathered.
Former sarpanch Sanjay Jadhav and several others reportedly spent hours trying to persuade Kunal to move away from the edge of the hill. Residents appealed to him to think about his mother and his future, while some reportedly even offered to buy him a new iPhone.

Despite the efforts to calm him down, Kunal allegedly continued to express a desire not to live.
After nearly three hours of attempts to persuade him, Kunal’s father, Murlidhar, reached the spot where his son was standing at around 1 p.m. He reportedly tried to pull his son away from the dangerous edge, but both lost their balance and fell into a deep gorge.
Witnessing the devastating incident, Kunal’s mother, Sangeeta Chandgade, reportedly went into severe shock and, shortly afterwards, also jumped from the hill.
The incident has left residents of the area grieving. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the complete sequence of events and circumstances that led to the deaths.
