Kejriwal trying to shield tainted min Satyendar Jain: Irani

New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday slammed Arvind Kejriwal for giving a clean chit to Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain, alleging that Kejriwal is patronizing the “tainted” minister in his government.
“Kejriwal ji, is it true that Satyendar Jain himself declared under Income Disclosures 2016 that he indulged in money laundering of Rs 16.39 crores? Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain became the channels for it,” Irani said while addressing a press conference at Party headquarters in New Delhi.
Slamming Kejriwal, for saying that charges against Satyendar Jain are baseless and motivated, Irani said, “It is unfortunate that Arvind Kejriwal gave a clean chit to Satyendar Jain in the public court”.
On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister said he had personally studied the case of Jain and found it politically motivated.
Posing a volley of questions to Kejriwal, Irani alleged that despite knowing the background of his Minister Kejriwal trying to shield him and he must tell the people why he is doing so, or should such a person continue as health minister of Delhi government.
“Delhi High Court Division Bench in its 2019 order has confirmed that Satyendar Jain owned black money to the tune of 16.39 crore “she said.
“Kejriwal ji, is it true that the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax said that Satendra Jain himself is the rightful owner of 16.39 crore black money? Is it true that the Division Bench Delhi High Court in one of its orders of 2019 has confirmed that Satendra Jain has committed money laundering” she said.
The union minister further asked, “When there was no building on the land, what consultancy was an architect offering? Can consultancy be Rs 16 crore?”
On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case, which triggered a political war of words and accused the Centre of vendetta politics.
